Butterball has introduced the Butterball Buddy, a turkey-shaped digital gadget designed to help take some of the work out of Thanksgiving dinner. Think of it as a virtual pet meets a Magic 8 Ball… with a little Thanksgiving task management thrown in!
The Butterball Buddy looks like something straight out of the ’90s, almost like a kid-sized pager. Here’s how it works: One guest starts with the device, waits for it to chime and vibrate, and then receives a Thanksgiving task. It could be anything from food preparation and serving to cleanup. Once they’ve completed their assignment, they pass the Buddy to the next willing family member.
Basically, it’s a way to get everyone involved in Thanksgiving dinner duties without having to ask Grandma to do everything herself!
And apparently, there’s a reason for it. Butterball says the idea was inspired by survey results showing that 85% of Thanksgiving hosts want help preparing the meal, but only 38% actually ask for it.
The best part? The Butterball Buddy is FREE!
Butterball is giving away a limited number of these gadgets online. The first batch sold out shortly after being released, but there are more chances to snag one. Additional giveaways are scheduled for Monday, November 9th, and Monday, November 16th.
