Brand new Wet Nose Wednesday with The Collar Club in Wisconsin Rapids, meet Zephyr!
Little Zephyr was born at the shelter. She was part of a litter of healthy kittens. But we soon noticed a unique sound coming from the kennel. We discovered little Zephyr had an unusually low voice. Not at all like the higher pitched “meow’s” that all kittens have. We also noticed Zephyr had trouble swallowing too. She could not eat hard kibble very well and had low energy levels. Her brothers and sisters were adopted. Zephyr remained behind.
Our HSPC medical team did x-rays and our Vet did some tests on her throat. It was determined she needed to go to a larger Animal hospital facility. So down to Madison she went. The doctors there discovered a birth abnormality in Zephyr’s throat that restrained her swallowing, eating and even her breathing. She underwent immediate surgery.
We picked her up and brought her back to the shelter. The next day I heard a little “meow”—and lo and behold it was Zephyr! Talking normal and playing! She now has great energy and developed a love for string and mouse toys too.
Because of her hospitalization she is a bit shy around people now. She also did not spend a lot of time with other cats so we do not know how she would do with other felines or dogs. We believe she should remain an indoor cat.
Her adoption fee is $55 plus tax, if you would like to meet her fill out an application here!
