PBS is bringing back the beloved children’s series Reading Rainbow after nearly 20 years, with librarian and TikTok star Mychal Threets stepping in as the new host. The original show, hosted by LeVar Burton from 1983 to 2006, became one of PBS’s most iconic programs.
The reboot will feature fresh stories, exciting themes, and special appearances from celebrity guests like John Legend, Chrissy Teigen, Adam Devine, Dancing with the Stars pros Rylee Arnold and Ezra Sosa, and The Bear’s Ebon Moss-Bachrach.
Just like the original, the new Reading Rainbow will inspire kids to explore books while celebrating diverse voices, cultures, and experiences.
