We have a brand new Pet of the Week with The Collar Club in Wisconsin Rapids; today we are going to talk about ‘Working Cats.’ There are many cats at the Humane Society of Portage County that would benefit in an “outdoor home.”
What is a working cat? They are usually shy, timid and feral temperament, they liked to be outside ‘working.’ They help keep your barn, shed, warehouse or workshop rodent free.
What your working cat will need? All working cats will need a warm outdoor place to sleep, fresh supply of food, fresh water and mice to hunt.
When choosing a working cat, the Humane Society includes spay/neuter, gives core vaccination, dewormed, flea and tick treatment and they will microchip. They will also loan out large dog crates or feral cat dens to help get your new working cat acclimated to its new home. You can read more on a working cat here!
Let’s meet a few of the working cats at the Humane Society of Portage County:
Linguine – She is very shy and would love to work around your yard. Black and white female, approximately 4 years old. Adoption fee is waived for this cat with an approved application.

There are many more working cats at the humane society that need the right outdoor home, if you live in a rural area and would benefit from a working cat, consider an adoption of one of these cats.
