Taylor Swift has filed trademark applications for two audio clips and one image of herself in an effort to protect her voice and likeness from deepfake videos and audio created by artificial intelligence. The applications, filed with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, list Swift’s TAS Rights Management as the owner of the audio clips and image. The audio clips feature Swift promoting her new album, while the image shows her onstage in a sequined outfit with a pink guitar. Trademark attorney Josh Gerben noted that these filings are designed to safeguard Swift from threats posed by AI technology and provide an additional layer of protection beyond existing laws. The move follows similar actions by actor Matthew McConaughey, who emphasized the importance of consent and attribution in an AI-driven world.
