The Supreme Court has allowed a ban on TikTok to take effect, citing national security concerns over the platform’s data collection practices and relationship with its Chinese parent company, ByteDance.

The court ruled that the ban does not violate the First Amendment rights of TikTok and its users. The decision comes after President Joe Biden signed a law last year requiring ByteDance to sell US-based TikTok or face a shutdown.

Despite the court’s ruling, there is still uncertainty about the platform’s future as political negotiations and potential executive actions may impact its fate.
