Shawn Mendes recently shared on the “On Purpose with Jay Shetty” podcast the difficult decision to cancel his 2022 “Wonder: The World Tour” due to struggles with mental health.
Despite his successful career, Mendes faced emotional turmoil and isolation, leading him to prioritize self-care over career demands.
The decision to cancel the tour was challenging, as it affected fans and his team, but Mendes knew it was necessary for his well-being.
“I had nowhere to go when things were getting hard, you know? I didn’t have other aspects of life that I felt connected to, that I could have leaned into to have a little bit of a break from touring, come back and just find that balance,” explained the “Treat You Better” singer. “And I knew there was only one way of doing that. And it was by just like creating a life.”
Taking the time off allowed him to rediscover himself and rebuild his personal life, leading to a newfound sense of balance and strength. Mendes is now preparing to release his fourth studio album, Shawn, on October 18.
