You may have known that Dolly Parton is Miley Cyrus’s godmother, but did you know they’re actually related?
The discovery that Miley Cyrus and Dolly Parton are seventh cousins, once removed, with a common ancestor named John Brickey from Tennessee, has further cemented their close relationship.
The Brickey family’s origins in France and migration to the US in the late 1600s connect the two stars with their ancestor’s house located near Dollywood.
Dolly expressed her lack of surprise at the Ancestory discovery. “Well, we are so close I wouldn’t have thought we were at least third cousins, ten times removed,” Dolly said to Access Hollywood after learning the news. “I’m sure [Miley] will get a kick out of that but it doesn’t surprise me because she does feel like family.”
