Over the past few years we have all noticed our mental health has been on the decline… but a new study has come out and says gardening can help better your mental health!
The University of Florida scientists found that gardening helps lower stress, anxiety and depression! They study women between the ages of 26-49, who were healthy but have been prescribed medication for anxiety or depression. Half of the participants were assigned to gardening classes the other half took art classes! After the end of the 8-week session each participate took a survey measuring anxiety, depression, stress and mood. The women who took the gardening classes reported slightly less anxiety then the art class takers! You can read more on the study from the University of Florida here!
I would never claim to be a gardener, and my ‘garden’ isn’t full of ‘life’ but I defiantly enjoyed putting it together!
